What Is Dentophobia?
Dentophobia is defined as a fear of the dentist or dental procedures. The fear itself may be deeply rooted in a childhood memory triggered by the sights, sounds and smells of the dental office. In other situations, a patient may put off dental care because they have a strong gag reflex, hate needles or have super-sensitive teeth. We can help!
At AXIS Dental Group, we pride ourselves on our ability to empathize with people that experience high levels of anxiety and nervousness when visiting the Dentist. That’s why we offer Sedation Dentistry, also called Sleep Dentistry. We can complete virtually any dental treatment through Sleep Dentistry including:
- cleanings
- fillings
- extractions
- implants
- surgery
- crowns and root canals
We offer 3 levels of sedation, depending on the individual and their unique situation:
- General Anesthesia (unconscious)
- Deep Sedation (unconscious, not as deep as general anesthesia, so a faster recovery time)
- Conscious Sedation (patient is responsive but unaware)
Your AXIS Dental Group team is fully equipped for this highly specialized form of dental care. We work with a highly trained medical anesthesiologist, along with a registered nurse whose sole responsibility is to ensure your well-being throughout the procedure, which allows Dr. Papneja and his team to focus on giving adults, adolescents and children the very best dental care.
Don’t let anxiety get in the way of your oral health. Let us ensure your complete comfort. We’ll sit down with you to find the level of sedation that’s best suited for you. Contact us today to learn more about Sleep/Sedation Dental Treatments.
