Orthodontists are trained dental specialists educated in the art of changing the positioning of your teeth, improving your smile and the way your jaw functions. Because Orthodontists are part of the AXIS Dental Group team of professionals, everyone is under one roof, so it’s easy for you to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted, regardless of age or lifestyle.
When to See an Orthodontist
The Ontario Association of Orthodontists suggests that if you recognize any of these signs in your child or yourself, it might be time to schedule a consultation with an Orthodontist.
- Early or late loss of baby teeth
- Difficulty chewing or biting
- Mouth breathing
- Sucking the thumb or fingers, or other oral habits
- Crowded, misplaced or blocked-out teeth
- Jaws that shift, make sounds, protrude or are recessed
- Speech difficulty
- Biting the cheek or biting into the roof of the mouth
- Protruding teeth
- Teeth that meet in an abnormal way or don’t meet at all
- Facial imbalance or asymmetry (features out of proportion to the rest of the face)
- Grinding or clenching of teeth
- Inability to comfortably close lips
The first step in considering any Orthodontic treatment is to meet with an Orthodontist for a consultation. The Orthodontist will review your condition, discuss the options available to you, identify the optimal solution and then create a treatment plan that’s best suited to your needs. The length of time, cost and what the procedure will involve are some of the issues that would be discussed at this appointment.
AXIS Dental Group offers a variety of teeth straightening options including braces, made from a variety of materials such as metal, plastic or ceramic. We also offer Invisalign® aligners, which are clear and practically invisible! Schedule your Orthodontic consultation today.
