Sedation Dentist: Dental Care While You Sleep
At AXIS Dental Group, you’ll find a caring environment focused on creating positive dental experiences. We’re completely committed to this and do whatever we can to ensure our patients are completely relaxed and comfortable.
One way we deliver on this philosophy is by offering patients the option to be asleep or sedated during their dental treatments. This procedure, known as Sleep Dentistry, Dentistry Asleep, or Sleep and Sedation Dentistry involves the use of some level of sedation to make the patient unconscious or asleep. The dental procedures are then performed while you’re in this state.
We understand that some people experience high levels of anxiety just thinking about visiting the dentist. Sleep Dentistry makes it possible for you to be totally relaxed during your dental treatments. It’s much like going to sleep and waking up with all your dental work done. You won’t feel any discomfort and you’ll wake up to a new smile with little stress and anxiety.
Dr. Terry Papneja and his team have over 30 years of experience in the area of Sleep / Sedation Dentistry so you can have complete confidence that you’re in good hands.
Our Sleep Dentistry Team
We work with a team of highly trained Anaesthesiologists whose sole responsibility is to ensure your comfort and well-being. This allows Dr. Papneja and our other dentists to focus on giving you the very best dental and cosmetic care possible.
A typical Sleep Dentistry team consists of a Dental Surgeon, one of our highly trained Anaesthesiologists (either Dr. Fabien Charbonneau or Dr. Rakesh Bhandari), a Registered Nurse, one of Dr. Papneja’s certified Dental Assistants along with one of our knowledgeable Treatment Coordinators.
Our Sleep Dentistry team is here to meet any and all of your oral care needs. Contact us today to book your next Sleep Dentistry appointment or to find out more about this innovative treatment method.
General Anaesthesia, Deep Sedation and Conscious Sedation
At AXIS Dental Group, our goal is to ensure your complete comfort and satisfaction. As a result, we offer several different levels of sedation based on your own unique situation and needs. We’ll sit down with you and discuss the option that’s best for you.
- General Anaesthesia – you’re completely asleep and unconscious
- Deep Sedation – you’re unconscious but not in as deep a state of sedation; you should experience a faster recovery from this type of sedation
- Conscious Sedation – you remain conscious and responsive but are in a state that enables treatments to be carried out
If you’re unsure which level of sedation might be best for you, we encourage you to contact us to setup an appointment to discuss these options in greater detail.
