CEREC – Dental Crown Restoration
At AXIS Dental Group, we’re pleased to offer our patients CEREC dental crown restoration services. From simple fillings to full crowns, the CEREC treatment delivers the results you want in a single appointment. CEREC is a revolutionary solution that uses a durable ceramic material to quickly restore damaged teeth.
The result is a beautiful, naturally-coloured tooth restoration that’s much stronger than before. Over a decade of clinical research and experience with over four million restorations completed worldwide supports the CEREC methodology. This quick, dependable and long-lasting treatment is one you can rely on.
The CEREC Dental Crown Advantage
The major advantage with the CEREC system is its ability to perform the restoration in a single session; there’s no need for temporary teeth or bulky impressions. This restoration process has a very natural look because it’s made of tooth-coloured ceramic material. It’s also metal-free, so there are no silver fillings to discolour your smile!
The ceramic material is high grade, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant and it’s compatible with the tissue in your mouth. The CEREC treatment also allows us to be extremely precise, enabling us to save more of the healthy part of your tooth.
The CEREC Dental Crown Procedure
There are three steps involved with the CEREC treatment process. They are:
1. Preparation:
First we prepare the tooth, removing the decay and damaged tooth (similar to traditional treatment methods). Your tooth will then be coated with a thin layer of a safe and tasteless reflective powder so we can take a 3D image of the tooth.
2. Digital Impression:
We then use a state-of-the-art digital 3D camera to create a pin-sharp optical impression of your tooth. This replaces the traditional physical impression, so you no longer have to wait while a tray of impression compound hardens in your mouth. CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-added manufacturing) technology then uses the optical impression to recreate every precise detail of your restored tooth, which can be customized to your clinical needs. You can even watch us design your new restoration on our computer monitor!
3. Mill and Place:
While you wait, the exact design specifications are sent to our on-site milling machine. A high-speed diamond bur and disk work simultaneously to mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. About 15 minutes later, your new ceramic, colour-matched restoration is ready for placement. Your new restoration is then fitted, polished and bonded for permanence. Your tooth is restored to its natural form, function and beauty!
